Acetone is cheap, fast and astonishingly versatile. It is the same solvent used by nail technicians, fibreglass fabricators, electronics manufacturers and weekend DIYers. Here are fifteen jobs our customers reach for acetone to do.

Cleaning & household

  1. Removing permanent marker from glass, metal and laminate.
  2. Lifting stubborn sticker and label gunk.
  3. Sanitising and cleaning glass surfaces.
  4. Cleaning oil and grease stains off stone benchtops (with a poultice).

Beauty

  1. Removing nail polish, shellac and SNS / acrylic nails.
  2. Sanitising tweezers, clippers and beauty tools.
  3. Thinning nail polish that has started to clog.

Industrial & DIY

  1. Cleaning PVC pipe before gluing.
  2. Cleaning fibreglass resin from tools and brushes.
  3. Removing silicone, wax and tar residue.
  4. Stripping uncured paint and removing paint residue.
  5. Removing super glue from surfaces (and fingers!).
  6. Degreasing parts before bonding or painting.
  7. General workshop clean-up.
  8. Wiping down surfaces before epoxy or resin work.
Safety first: Acetone is highly flammable. Use in a ventilated area, away from any ignition source, and store it sealed and upright. Always patch-test on plastics and painted surfaces first — acetone will attack many of them.

Our acetone is 99.5% industrial-purity grade, available from 1L right up to 1000L. If you have an unusual application, just ask — after 20 years we have almost certainly seen it before.
