Kerosene is a workhorse fuel and cleaning solvent, but there are two grades that often get confused: standard kerosene and low-odour (high-flash) kerosene.
Standard kerosene
Great as a degreaser, parts cleaner and fuel for outdoor lamps and equipment. It has a noticeable petroleum smell, so it is best used outdoors or in well-ventilated workshops.
Low-odour / high-flash kerosene
This grade is refined further to remove most of the aromatics that cause the smell and to raise the flash point. That makes it the right choice for indoor kerosene heaters, where odour and safety matter, and for sensitive cleaning jobs.
Which should you buy?
- Indoor heating → low-odour / high-flash kerosene.
- Degreasing, outdoor lamps, general use → standard kerosene.
Both are available in 5L and 20L. If you are running a specific heater model, check its manual for the recommended fuel grade, or call us and we will help you match it.
